Draft Meeting Minutes
Attendees: Gaye Wagner, Julianne Rizzo, Catie Cassity, Mike Hensley, Larry Forssberg, Allison Clemens, Shelly Lindsey, Mary Ferguson, Dr. Nancy A. Congdon, Au D., Mark Davis, Julianne Rizzo, Karen Spencer and Alice Krampits. Call to order: 8:09 a.m.
Introductions were made and Alison Clemens, Owner of Clemens Enterprise in Westmont gave a detailed presentation of Clemens Enterprise as host of the meeting.
The January 6, 2023 meeting minutes were approved with the following corrections:
Add Dr. Nancey A. Congdon, Au D. as attending.
Remove Mark Davis
Remove comments on Lazaro presentation at the Westmont Library
New Business Discussed:
Senior Expo on May 4th from 5pm-7pm at Westmont Park District
Senior Expo on May 5th from 8:30-11 at Westmont Park District
The group determined not to have a panel presentation as there was no interested from the members. The expo can be set up beginning at 3:00 on Thursday, 5/4. Mark Davis will review 2022 exhibitors and compile a list to send to the group, non-member organizations were discussed to invite to the expo.
Business After Hours March 8 from 5-6:30 at Downers Grove Township Senior Center
The following members volunteered to contribute to the event: Mike Hensley=appetizers, Birches=appetizers, Shelly=sweets, Gaye=sparkling water, Mark=mini sandwiches, Alison Clemens=pizza. DGT will provide the paper products.
Members will bring items to raffle or to put in a raffle basket. They can be dropped with Karen Spencer at the next meeting on March 3 or the Downers Grove Township.
There will be a table to display member business information.
Dementia Friendly Westmont- Mary Ferguson
Memory Café’s and Caregiver support groups continue to form in Westmont
There may be opportunities for businesses to sponsor activities for Dementia Friendly
There is a dementia meeting next week. Mary will invite Susan Frick to the Senior Expo
Old Business: Larry Forssberg gave an update on Chamber business and events.
Westmont Chamber Open House 2/15 at the Westmont Center from 5-6:30. A multi-chamber event is being planned.
