The Village has already held referendum presentations for the Maercker School District, Westmont Lions Club, and the Chamber Downtown Westmont Business Alliance.
The language for the referendum has been certified by DuPage County. The question on the ballot will read as follows:
Registered Westmont voters can vote yes or no on the question. The Stormwater-Infrastructure Sales Tax Referendum will appear on the April 7, 2015 Spring Election Ballot.
Per the feedback we received from the majority of the community, the Board decided to move forward with a Stormwater-Infrastructure Sales Tax Referendum."
Specifically, the April referendum will ask voters to consider a local general sales tax of 1/2% (which is half a penny on the dollar). Per the wording in the referendum, all monies generated by this sales tax would be dedicated to stormwater management and public infrastructure only.
If you have questions, please contact us at communications@westmont.il.gov or 630-417-0280. The Village encourages the entire community to get involved, learn about this important topic, and vote on April 7, 2015.
