Attendees: Mary Ferguson, Shelly Lindsey, Larry Forssberg, Julianne Rizzo, Catie Cassity, Dr. Nancy A. 1.Introductions, Agenda Additions & Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 8:03 a.m.
A. Introductions were made by attendees. Along with many new attendees to chamber and new SRG members

C. Approval of September Meeting Minutes without change
2. Old Business
• Mayslake Resident Expo Fall 2024
O Will be held on November 7th from 9a-11a
O Set up will be in the morning but Larry will ask if we can do set up the night before – there will be 1 table, 2 chairs/exhibitor
O Larry to create posters to advertise to Mayslake residents
O Larry to send a survey to SRC members to determine who will be attending
O Larry to talk to Mayslake ED about expected attendance
O Sheri Kupres and Carol Magpayo will coordinate the water/snacks
• Dementia Friendly
O Westmont Library has speakers the first Wednesday of every month
O Westmont Memory Café is growing, was 8 members, now 16
O Karin Knutson from Burgess is running a support group each month and getting 8 people attending on average
O 9/16 Jim Gunther to take pictures again for Faces Behind Dementia, to show at the Westmont Library but some people aren’t comfortable with this so may be postponed – may schedule another session because those who weren’t comfortable changed their minds once they saw the photos
• Alyssa Vejendia is working on SRG directory. Larry to send this out to the group.
O List to be used as a referral resource for SRG members
O Also use for SRG members to support and review each other’s businesses
O Larry also recommended looking at your listing on the Westmont Chamber website to add in/update links to website or social media
• Review of the SRC participation rules:
O Need to attend at least 8 of 11 meetings/year
Need to meet this in order to participate in Westmont Spring Expo
O The goal of the group is to work together, be respectful of each other
O Expectation is that you will participate and be an active member of the group
3. New Business
• Larry retiring at the end of October from Chamber duties. New Chamber President is Eric Carlson who starts mid-October. Eric will attend our November meeting.
• Westmont Park District Fall Program Sponsorship opportunities – Contact Alice Krampits if you are interested in sponsoring a program or placing an ad in the newsletter
O Alice’s information will be included in the SRG directory that Larry will be sending out.
• Westmont Casket Race (Saturday, October 19 @ noon) – some SRC members are getting together to enter on behalf of the SRC
• Bea Wolfe – email Bea if you would like to participate in educational presentations with Westmont Library
O Westmont needs a list of topics that they will pick from
4. Upcoming Event Updates
• Thursday, November 14 – Proclamation for Dementia Friendly at the Chamber Meeting, 6pm at Westmont Village Hall. This is 5-year anniversary. Would like to have SRC members there to show support. Only there for roughly first 10 minutes of meeting
• December, Frosty & Friends parade. Free to have vehicle in the parade, 45 minutes
• Consider joining the Westmont Women in Business Council
• 2025 Scope of work: Budgeting for next year coming up:
o include money to create SRC bags for events
o Co-Chairs for meetings
o Police & Fire events in town
o Senior of the Year Award
Change nominating criteria to enable those who are a part of the Chamber but not Westmont residents to nominate
o SRC booklet
o Dementia Friendly
o St. Patrick’s Day event at the Downers Grove Township
o Spring Health Fair and Expo
o Mayslake Expo
o Other Expos – Darien, Oak Brook
o Participate with local Police and Fire Departments (i.e., Open House, Car Show)
5. Next Meeting Dates and Locations

• December 6: sponsored by Clarendon Vision at the Westmont Chamber
• January 2025 – Claire Nawrocki & Nora Hernandez, Equitable Financial at their Oak Brook office
• February 2025 – Kerry Quirin, Senior Living Experts at Westmont Chamber
• March 2025 – Kelsey Haddad at Sunrise of Westmont
• Have a future meeting at the Westmont Police Station on N Cass, tour the station
