1.Introductions, Agenda Additions & Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 8:03 a.m.
A. Introductions were made by attendees. Along with many new attendees to chamber and new SRG members

C. Approval of August Meeting Minutes without change
2. Old Business
A. Mayslake Resident Expo Fall 2024
- Will be held on November 7th from 9a-11a
- Set up will be in the morning but Larry will ask if we can do set up the night before – there will be 1 table, 2 chairs/exhibitor
- Create posters to advertise to Mayslake residents
- Larry to send a survey to SRC members about raffle, snacks
- Larry to talk to Mayslake ED about expected attendance
- Sheri Kupres and Carol Magpayo will coordinate the water/snacks
- Westmont Library has speakers the first Wednesday of every month
- Karin Knutson from Burgess is running a support group each month and getting 8 people attending on average
- 9/16 Jim Gunther to take pictures again for Faces Behind Dementia, to show at the Westmont Library but some people aren’t comfortable with this so may be postponed
- November 7 Village meeting at 6pm asked for attendees to attend meeting for support with Westmont Dementia Friendly celebrating 5 years. Typically, 1st 15 minutes of meeting
- List to be used as a referral resource for SRG members
- Also use for SRG members to support and review each other’s businesses
- Larry also recommended looking at your listing on the Westmont Chamber website to add in/update links to website or social media
3. New Business
- Larry retiring at the end of October from Chamber duties. New Chamber President is Eric Carlson who starts mid-October. Eric will attend our November meeting.
- Westmont Park District Fall Program Sponsorship opportunities – Contact Alice Krampits if you are interested in sponsoring a program or placing an ad in the newsletter
- Alice’s information will be included in the SRG directory that Larry will be sending out.
- Scarecrow event in October – have your business decorate a scarecrow and submit for voting, an easy way to get involved in Westmont community events, increase visibility in community for little cost
- Westmont Casket Race (Saturday, October 19 @ noon) – some SRC members are getting together to enter on behalf of the SRC. Dan Rattary to submit entry form
- Discuss at August meeting having SRG members participate in educational seminars at local libraries and other venues to improve relationships with communities we serve – TABLED TO OCTOBER MEETING
- Some ideas that were discussed:
- Partner with each other to speak to the community/senior family members to educate them/not sell to them about services available
- Create a list of topics that the SRC can provide to share with libraries
4. Upcoming Event Updates
- 2025 Scope of work: Budgeting for next year coming up – include money to create SRC bags for events (discuss in more detail at the October meeting)
- Saturday, 9/28 outing with the Westmont Fire Department, will have an SRC table. Several SRC members will be attending
- November 7 – Proclamation for Dementia Friendly at the Chamber Meeting, 6pm at Westmont Village Hall. This is 5-year anniversary. Would like to have SRC members there to show support. Only there for roughly first 10 minutes of meeting
- December, Frosty & Friends parade. Free to have vehicle in the parade, 45 minutes
- Consider joining the Westmont Women in Business Council

2024 WCCTB Programs, Events & Services Overview
Introduction
Provided in this document are recommendations presented from our Chamber committees to provide specific Chamber programs, services and offer special events. These recommendations are designed and structured to serve Chamber membership, enhance the value of the Chamber and to support the goals and initiatives of our strategic plan as outlined below.

The recommendations outlined are being presented from each Chamber standing committee and staff for review and approval by the WCCTB Executive Board and the WCCTB Board of Directors.
Senior Resource Committee Recommendations

Meets: 1st Friday of each month at 8:00 AM; the meeting location varies.
The Senior Resource Committee recommends the 2024 scope of work includes:
SRC Info Booklet – Online & Print - Manage the booklet containing information on committee members and associated community organizations
SRC Presentations - Create, Promote and Present monthly topics to the community at the Westmont Public Library
Dementia Friendly Westmont Resource Guide – Publish the guide for business community use.
SRC Business After Hours Event - Will be scheduled for March 6, 2024 at the Downers Grove Township
WPD Senior Health Fair & Expo - Promote and attend expo targeted to the senior community on April 25th, 5pm – 6:30pm, and April 26th, 8:30am – 11am, 2024
Westmont Senior of the Year Award – Partner with the Education and Awards committee to select the Senior of the Year which will be a local Westmont senior citizen.
Alzheimer's Awareness Month – During the month of November focus on an information campaign to inform the community about Alzheimer’s. Types of activities would include, a Village of Westmont Proclamation and email blasts to the community.

Downtown Scarecrow Decorating Contest
October 3 – October 31, 2024
Downtown Westmont
The scarecrow decorating contest is open to local families, businesses and organizations. Scarecrows will be on display on Cass Avenue between Naperville/Chicago Avenue and Dallas Street and at Village Hall, 31 W. Quincy Street. Residents & visitors are encouraged to go online and vote for their favorite scarecrow through midnight on October 31, at www.westmontchamber.com. The “People’s Choice” winners will be announced on the Westmont Shop, Dine, Discover Facebook page.

This fun-filled day is hosted by the Westmont Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau, Village of Westmont, and the Westmont Environmental Improvement Commission. The Annual Westmont Trick or Treat Trail invites families to enjoy trick-or-treating in the safe environment of our downtown Business District. Caskets on Cass, a foot race of homemade caskets sponsored by community organizations, businesses and area residents begins at Noon along downtown Cass Avenue.

Mary Ann Kaufman of the FMC Natatorium at Ty Warner Park will address Women in Business from DuPage area Chamber of Commerce to share her story on how the FMC Natatorium went from a great idea to reality.
Holly Days Frosty & Friends Parade
Saturday, December 7, 2024, 5 PM
Downtown Westmont
Bring your family, friends and neighbors to help ring in the holiday season! The Frosty & Friends Parade will begin at 5:00PM and proceed down Cass Ave, from Chicago Ave. The parade will conclude with Santa’s arrival and the lighting of the Village of Westmont tree at James Addington Plaza on West Quincy Street! Children of all ages can join Santa in the Westmont Metra Station afterwards for treats and a visit.

Westmont Winter Ball
Friday, December 13, 2024, 6:00 PM – 11 PM
Hilton Chicago/Oak Brook Hills Resort, 3500 Midwest Road, Westmont
The Westmont Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau presents its annual Westmont Winter Ball. Cocktails will be served starting at 6:00pm followed by dinner, Live Auction of fun prizes, and dancing. Throughout the evening guests will have the opportunity to bid on a wide variety of silent auction items, fabulous hotel stays.
